Spec Watch

We need your help - Crowdsourcing SpecWatch.

With the growing number of spec work, design contests and crowdsourcing sites, it is becoming increasingly difficult to monitor all these sites with the limited personnel we have available.

You can help.

If you find a design contest that has not been paid out, or that copied and plagiarized work has been entered, you can tip us off by posting it to your Twitter account and using either an @SpecWatch prefix, or by adding a SpecWatch hash-tag (#specwatch) to your Tweet. Using this hash-tag will also be a simple way for people to find your new reports and bulletins.

If you don't wish to post this information in public, simply send us a DM (Direct Message) via Twitter. We try to credit all our sources with a "Skull Tip" link to your Twitter page - the SpecWatch version of a "Tip of the Hat". If you'd prefer to remain anonymous, simply ask by tagging your Tweet or DM 'anon' and we'll respect your wishes. All we need is a brief synopsis, a link to investigate and we will do the rest.

Ironically, working together on shedding light on spec work and design contest sites would be a conventional case of "crowdsourcing" and illustrates that the concept does not have to be exploitative or unfair.

And in a very real way, you can be a member of SpecWatch.

Once again, thanks to all our followers and Re-Tweeters. We appreciate your time and efforts.
